Killzone is an electronic game of first-person shooter released exclusively for the PlayStation 2 console, developed by Guerrilla Games headquarters of the Netherlands and was released on November 2, 2004 for North America. A sequel, Killzone: Liberation, was released for the PlayStation Portable, followed by Killzone 2 | Killzone 3 released for both the PlayStation 3 platform. The game is set in a time where the Helghast Empire has recovered from its defeat in World War Helghan and launched an attack against the Alliance and Interplanetary Strategic (ISA) colony on the planet Vekta. The Helghast are a group of human descendant species that colonized the planet Helghan for generations. The environment of the planet Helghan forced them to adapt so that they are no longer considered human. They are stronger, faster and stronger than their fellow humans, and have an irrational hatred of mankind, only "support" a small number of crossbred breed Helghast and humans. They use a gas mask and a tank that produces the air found in the planet Helghan, as they are here on earth. The player takes control of Captain Jan Templar, fighting the invading Helghast. Templar and his soldiers are called to base redistribution, where they are promptly sent to find the base operating ISA and the "weapon" Hakha, who is in his power. In the course of the plot, the player can take control of several other characters: "Shadow" Marshal Luger (expert in covert operations), Sergeant Rico Velasquez and Colonel Hakha, a mestizo, but accepts that fight alongside humans.
